The Mindanao Trench is located in the Philippine Sea and is a deep, narrow valley in the ocean floor. It stretches over 700 miles along the coast of the island of Mindanao, and is the second deepest ocean trench in the world after the Mariana Trench. It has a maximum depth of around 24,800 feet and is formed by the convergence of the Philippine Sea Plate and the Pacific Plate. The trench is known for its high seismic activity and has been the site of several major earthquakes and tsunamis in the past. It is also home to a variety of unique deep-sea creatures adapted to the extreme pressures and darkness of the deep ocean.
